Cebu: Overall Package

Cebu ranked 6th best travel destination base on New York-based travel and leisure magazine, among the four island that is recognized by the magazine reader detailing in their experience in the place.

Historical sites

Cebu’s rich history goes for more than 400 years as the center of trade  not only in the Philippines but also to some countries in Asia. Historical sites are its solid proof which were preserved and have become major tourist attractions of Cebu Province. Historical churches and ancestral houses are still standing up to this date and monuments that commemorate people that contributed a lot in the society. To name a few, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral- typical Spanish colonial church architecture in the country, the Yap- Sandiego House- one of the oldest houses in the country, built in 17th century, Fort San Pedro a military defense structure made by Spanish and indigenous Cebuano’s under the command of Spanish conquistador. It is located in the now called Plaza Independencia, and the Magellan’s Cross at Magallanes Street was planted on April 21, 1521 by Ferdinand Magellan. It was here that the first Filipino Christians, Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana, along with about 400 followers were baptized.

Of more than seven thousand islands in the country. Cebu is located in Central Philippines  is a tropical and less than one hundred square miles in size, it’s regarded as one of the most beautiful islands in the world because of its crystal clear ocean waters and an immaculately clean shoreline of powder-like white sands and one of the top diving destinations. Aside from its multi-colored living corals and fascinating marine life, perhaps its attraction lies in the fact that it’s a tiny, little isolated island whose tourism infrastructure and facilities are yet to be completely developed. It is said that if the first Spanish explorers, who more than 350 years ago arrived on the island, came today, they’d find it the same as when they first set eyes on it. It continues to stand the test of time with its incredible, unspoiled and unaffected white sand beaches and natural forests surrounded by the vast expanse of an aqua-blue ocean waters.

Mango Square is an area with a lot of bars and pubs, and a few strip joints on the further part of the avenue. During weekends a lot of foreigners love to come to this area-probably because picking up girls here is quite easier than would be picking one up in IT Park. Mango square usually attracts the middle to lower economic class markets while IT Park attracts the middle to upper ones. Drinks would cost you far less than other hangout places, but is affordable when you are a foreigner living in Cebu. Cebuano’s are the best of people to live with. The best area to experience the night life in Cebu. Since, this area is surrounded with lots of establishments and near to call center companies.

City living is expensive. Essential needs has to be bought all the time. Everyone should spend money lavishly since foods serve in malls and fancy places are expensive. Some says ” Put a knife in your throat if you are man given an appetite”. But there are some foods served inexpensively that anybody can forget they are on diet.

Pungko-pungko is a style of eatery wherein all viands are on the table and customers pick their own choice of viand; is located in Fuente Osmena, Cebu City, offers a wide variety of viands of low prices, viands that can’t be bought in eateries and carenderia’s in the city. Surrounded with establishments of large to small scale businesses, caused a high food traffic, and visited by students from different universities and colleges within the vicinity and employees of nearby businesses, offices, and hospitals.

Pungko-pungko is a  Cebuano term, which is to squat, or sit in a low benches or just crouch down to eat which is located in sidewalks.  Pungko-pungko is characterized for its cheap, mostly fried food such as ngohiong (fried spring rolls), bola-bola (meat balls) and assorted parts of pork such as ginabot (pork intestines), utok (pork brain), tambok (pork fat) and dila (pork tongue).

We visit there if we have no output to comply or any activities, and seldom visit there since we need to allocate a big chunk of our daily allowance. We can probably spend 50 to 70 pesos with 6 puso or hanging rice, ngohiong, lumpia with softdrinks. Vendors offered spicy vinegar sauce and rely on customers honesty.

The Mighty Inambakan Falls

Philippines is gifted with its beautiful sandy beaches and magnificent and pristine waterfalls which is popular among local and international visitors. The Philippines is lucky to have these gifts, and one of which is located in Southern Cebu- the mighty Inambakan falls, a must visit treasure. Inambakan falls is considered a hidden treasure of Ginatilan which makes it unique to the other falls.

How to get there

Ginatilan is 144.8 kilometers from Cebu City. Travel time can take 4-5 hours via bus or van for hire; depending on traffic and speed. Available tricycle and multicab is negotiable with a just price, to take you to Inambakan falls. It is 3.9 kilometers away from the town center and can be reached by small private vehicles. Knowledge of paths going there can be an advantage, so better hire local driver. From drop-off points you need to walk for 5 minutes to reach the falls. Be careful in trekking as the trail is wet and slippery.

Where to stay

Plunging into the cold water would probably persuade you to stay long and go swimming overnight. Unfortunately, Ginatilan’s tourist site remains undeveloped and has no hotel for visitors to stay but neighboring towns- a famous tourist destination has numerous hotels and resort which is kilometers away from Ginatilan, though time consuming for tourist.

Temple of Leah: Cebu’s newest tourist attraction and our experience

One would think of being in Rome while standing and touching the large Roman columns and Greek-mythology architecture at the Temple of Leah. This huge mansion was built as a monument of Teodorico Adarna’s undying love for his wife, Leah. Two of the numerous highlight of the temple are- the Grand Stairs adorned with carved angels, and the 10- foot statue of Leah wearing a crown and holding a bouquet of flowers.

Since, it was summertime and our Professional Salesmanship and Psychology classes were cancelled, my classmates and I decided to spend the rest of the day at the Temple of Leah located at one of the mountain peaks of Barangay Busay in Cebu City.My classmates and myself decided to take public transportation to reach our planned destination. However, since the Temple of Leah is situated atop a hill and accessible only either by private vehicles or motorbikes, our group decided to forego our plan when we failed to get a bargain for an affordable fare. Unexpectedly, by God’s grace, one jeepney driver offered to bring us to our destination at an affordable charge of Thirty Pesos. So, we hurriedly hopped-in.

Once we reached our target, another setback arose- the Temple of Leah was not accepting visitors for some unknown reason. Having no choice, we decided to proceed to “Lantaw” and “Mountain View”…. to pass the time away and enjoy the aerial view of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu- lapu.

After satisfying our senses of sight and having no means of transportation, we slowly trekked down the mountain slope towards Lahug proper. While doing so, a “Good Samaritan” offered us all a free ride. Twice that day…God was with us and provided the group with unforeseen and unexpected grace!

Lansiao: An aphrodisiac food

In this contemporary era, lots of synthetic drugs can be bought over the counter to boost sex appetite and performance. Those drugs are designed to last long in sex. Men of old ages experienced erectile dysfunction. According to Herodotus, Father of modern medicine “Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. So why buy such synthetic drugs with side effects if there is a food as substitute for those drugs.

As i sit on the table waiting the food to be served, I didn’t feel any excitement to taste the food. I find it nasty, maybe a reason of lack of excitement. Lansiao’s main ingredients are organs and testicles of a male horse and bull. It’s sticky and mild taste with a little bit spicy will probably make you order it over and over. Customers visits the restaurants just to eat and others are for some reason. Some says it really boost sex appetite but some didn’t confer its validity.

Campers and beach goers popular destination!

Recently, Zambales has become a famous tourist destination thru its Nagsasa and Anawangin cove. It magnets hundreds of campers and beach goers because of its white sand beaches, mountain ranges, nearby lakes and falls. A perfect place to get rid of a stressful city life with less cost.

Goers can probably arrange your trip all by yourself or by travel agency. Take a bus ride going to San Antonio Zambales if you are from Manila then hire a driver to take to Pundaquit beach and take a boat like going to Nagsasa cove.

It’s exquisite beauty will probably amaze those who love camping and swimming in Anawangin and Nagsasa’s romantic environment.
